A farmer was in need of a rooster to help breed with his hens.
He heard that a neighboring farmer had one for sale, so he decided to pay him a visit.
When he arrived, the neighboring farmer introduced him to Brewster, a rooster. “This rooster will get the job done for your chickens,” he said. “But be warned, he’s got quite the appetite for, well, everything.”
The farmer shrugged it off and took Brewster home.
No sooner had Brewster entered the henhouse than he started working through all the chickens, and soon after, he turned his attention to the sheep and other animals in the barnyard.
A few days later, the farmer warned him, “You’re going to wear yourself out, Brewster, if you keep this up!”
But Brewster didn’t listen. After a week of chasing everything on the farm, the farmer walked out one morning to find the rooster sprawled out in the yard, with vultures already circling overhead.
Shaking his head, the farmer grumbled, “I told you this would happen if you didn’t slow down!”
Brewster opened one eye and muttered, “Quiet down… they’re about to land.”
