Jake glanced over at his coworker, Chris, and did a double take. He had never noticed before, but today, Chris was wearing an earring. It struck him as odd—Chris was usually a pretty conservative guy.
Unable to hold back his curiosity, Jake walked up to him and asked, “Hey, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but since when do you wear an earring?”
Chris barely looked up. “Oh, this?” he said casually. “It’s just an earring.”
Jake hesitated but couldn’t let it go. “Yeah, I get that, but I’ve known you for years, and this is new. How long have you had it?”
Chris finally looked him in the eye, sighed, and said, “Since the day my wife found it in our bed.”
