Earlier this week, Tom walked into his boss’s office with a serious look on his face.
He said, “Sir, I know times are tough, but I’ve had three companies reach out to me recently… and I think it’s time we talked about a raise.”
His boss leaned back, thought for a moment, and nodded.
“Alright,” he said, “Let’s work something out.” After a bit of back and forth, they agreed on a 5% raise.
As Tom stood up to leave, the boss asked, “So, who were these companies?”
Tom grinned and replied,
“The cable company, the electric company, and the water company. They all want more money from me.”
