As a man walked by some elephants, he noticed they were tied with just a small rope to their front leg—no chains or cages. Despite their size, the elephants didn’t try to break free.
Curious, he asked a trainer why they weren’t attempting to escape. The trainer explained, “When they’re young, we use the same rope to tie them, and it’s strong enough to hold them. As they grow, they believe the rope still keeps them trapped, so they never try to break away.”
The man was amazed. These powerful animals stayed bound simply because they believed they couldn’t break free.
Just like the elephants, many of us are held back by old beliefs and past failures. But failure is a part of learning, and we should never stop trying.
