A dog, lost in the depths of an African jungle, wandered nervously, trying to find his way home. As he searched, a hungry lion spotted him from a distance and thought, This little guy will make an easy meal.
The dog, noticing the lion approaching, panicked and prepared to run. But just then, he saw a pile of bones nearby and quickly came up with a plan. As the lion got closer, the dog smacked his lips and said loudly, “Mmm, that was some delicious lion! I wonder if there are any more around.”
Hearing this, the lion skidded to a halt, eyes wide with fear. This dog just ate a lion?! Not wanting to take any chances, the lion turned and sprinted away.
Up in a tree, a sneaky monkey had been watching the whole thing unfold. Seeing an opportunity, the monkey caught up to the lion and said, “That dog was bluffing! He didn’t eat a lion—he just tricked you!”
Furious at being fooled, the lion roared, “Jump on my back! We’re going back to deal with him together!”
As they approached, the dog spotted them and quickly came up with another clever trick. Just as the lion got close, the dog sighed dramatically and muttered, “Where is that lazy monkey? I sent him to bring me another lion hours ago!”
Hearing this, the lion screeched to a stop once again, threw the monkey off his back, and bolted into the jungle—leaving the clever dog grinning behind him.
